Skin Issues Pain Skin

At a glance

Lipoma nodules became smaller and softer and gradually disappeared with acupuncture.

Presentation

A 72-year-old patient had many lipoma nodules on her arms and legs, and some of them were very painful.

Diagnosis

In TCM, a lipoma is seen not as an isolated skin issue but as a local build-up of phlegm dampness, with Qi or blood stagnation obstructing the channels and tissues. This patient’s lipomas were caused by blood stasis.

Treatment

  • Bao Ci Fa (surround needling) — needles inserted around the edge of each target nodule
  • The painful and larger nodules were treated first, then the smaller, painless ones

Result

None of the nodules are painful any more, and all of the large nodules have disappeared.

Additional notes

One treatment every two weeks.

This reflects an individual patient experience, not clinical trial data.
